Japan Patent Information Organization (Japio)

1971 The Japan Patent Information Center (Japatic) is established with financial support from private sectors, centering on the government and the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, after a Diet Resolution.
1978 "PATOLIS", the first on-line retrieval system of patent information in Japan, is developed with the provision of patent information by Japan Patent Office.
1985 The Japan Patent Information Organization (PATOLIS) is established through the integration of Japatic and the Patent Information Service Department of Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII).
1998 The price of the PATOLIS service is reduced twice in 1998, significantly lowering the price of the data supply, reflecting the release of patent information to private sectors by Japan Patent Office, and the free data supply service for the data held by Japan Patent Office.
